Talent Director

 

The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) is looking to recruit experienced, energetic, and committed Talent Director.  

EIH was established on January 31st, 2021, through The Definition of Objective Functions and Organization the Ethiopian Investment Holdings Council of Ministers Regulation No 487/2014

Its objectives are to (1) serve as a strategic investment arm of the government of Ethiopia, (2) contribute to sustainable economic development through professional management of its funds and assets achieving the optimal use thereof in accordance with international best practice and corporate governance principles, and to maximize the value for the benefit of current and future generations and to (3) provide a strategic vehicle to attract foreign investment by, among others, establishing a co-investment platform, consolidating assets for further monetization, unlocking values from current unutilized assets

EIH has acquired 27 public commercial companies over which it will exercise the ownership function of the government. EIH has two core functions investment and portfolio management.

HST is a knowledge company operating in Ethiopia which provides a broad range of professional services to clients across various industries. EIH has engaged HST to support recruitment for the position of Talent Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own the translation of EIH’s talent strategy into a detailed policy and procedure, including periodic revisions, and ensure employees are onboard with the policy
  • Drive the process of translating the organizational structure into a competency framework including a performance evaluation system and process for all positions and functions
  • Define strategies for building and managing a culture of excellence fit for EIH’s mission
  • Propose a capability building and incentive plan informed by the results of employee performance evaluation process and EIH’s succession plan
  • Support EIH's Executive Management Team in putting together periodic talent plans and performance reports and decision requests to the Executive Team and the Talent Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Provide coaching and thought-partnership to functional heads to ensure a healthy and high-performance environment, including assisting in performance conversations and measures 
  • Deliver analytical / advisory services to portfolio companies as guided by the Executive Team
  • Perform any other assignments as guided by EIH's Executive Management Team to help build EIH’s talent capability

Job Requirements

Required Education, Experience and Competencies:

  • A minimum of First-Degree Human Resources Management, Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or other relevant fields with proven experience in designing and implementing effective talent acquisition, development, and retention programs
  • The best candidate for the position will possess the following competencies:
    • Experience driving implementation of talent management good practices in a corporate or holding company context, ideally in a multinational private company 
    • Strong familiarity with the operations of banking / financial services, transport / logistics, construction, or any of EIH’s industry clusters
    • Good understanding of Ethiopia’s labor law and policies 
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
    • Excellent listening and engaging skills including the ability to read organizational and team dynamics with the objective of creating a culture of excellence in line with the organization’s mission
    • Strong project management skills: planning and executing a set of activities through individuals with diverse technical and professional backgrounds
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal especially executive management
